Three Hundred Days
04:10
|
|||
Three hundred days
Is a long, long time
To be in my mind
And in my room
Can't show my face
If I go outside
So The Dude abides
In the land of Zoom
Three hundred days
Of being on the edge
Sitting on a ledge
And gazing down
Funny how things
They still look the same
But just out of frame
It's melting down
Three hundred days
In an electric womb
It could be my tomb
Only time will tell
I borrowed time
From a friend who's gone
I guess I'll carry on
And say "farewell"
Chorus
Three hundred days
And the birds still sing
And the sun still swings
Across the blue
And though it feels
Like the end of things
It's an awakening
To what is true
Chorus
Repeat verse 1

Brand Name Day
03:41
|
|||
Welcome back my cousin,
Did you bring the wine?
We’ll watch “American Jesus’”
And we’ll vote 20 times
They’ll crucify the winner
Then forgive him of his crimes
It’s a Brand Name Day
Watch them pimp the babies
With the ruby-red lips
Burns a ring around the rosie
Like a solar eclipse
Then we’ll sail into the sunset
Aboard tall censor ships
It’s a Brand Name Day
In your eyes it’s all the same
It’s just pixels in a never-ending game
Buy some time just for yourself
And lay some blame
It’s a Brand Name Day
Behind the Undersea Tornadoes
And the Oil Spill in Space
And the resurrected Nazi
In the presidential race
There’s a focus group and think tank
In a secret lunar base
It’s a Brand Name Day
Have a sip, a toke, a snort, a bite
Adjust your attitude
There’s a hidden burial chamber
In the Pyramid of Food
And don’t forget the Safety Net
If you become unglued
It’s a Brand Name Day
Don’t cry out
Don’t make a scene
It’s just a plane crash
On an in-flight movie screen
And there really is
A ghost in the machine
It’s a Brand Name Day
If there’s a point
It can’t be named
Like a caption hidden by a picture frame
May the pundits and the shills
Rise to proclaim
It’s a Brand Name Day!
It’s a Brand Name Day!
It’s a Brand Name Day!

The Dreamtime
05:08
|
|||
Summer sun lies cooling in the sea,
Waiting for the moonrise
Darkness finds its way into the street,
My lamp a jar of fireflies
Lightning flashes silent in the heat,
Silhouettes the skyline
Monsters tear the city piece to piece,
Living in a boy’s mind
I ran to tell my family,
But I turned and they were gone
And my house became a doorway,
Into the great beyond
As the wind rose up around me,
And my world was torn apart
Came a sound from high above me,
Running blindly through the dark
To the heart…of the Dreamtime
Lost to all the things that we must be,
Living in the real time
And though we long to sail the dreamer’s sea,
We settle for the shoreline
In the light of burning questions,
Was a stairway into space
At the end should be the answer,
That would free me from this place
But the hope of living ended,
And the final journey starts
With a painless blow intended,
As a child’s soul departs
For the heart…of the Dreamtime,
For the heart…of the Dreamtime
And the passage ended quickly,
But the darkness never came
Just a strange and new beginning,
For a soul without a name
From the pool of blue creation,
The final answer came
Once the Dreamtime finds you sleeping,
You will never be the same

Surfer Boys Chantey
05:31
|
|||
‘Twas the third of December
In aught ‘69
On the Rockaway Sandbar
They sat in a line
With a warm offshore blowing
Conditions were fine
On the Rockaway Sandbar
They bobbed in the brine
They saw jellies and dogfish
In a red and green glow
For the street lights still burned
In the town far below
In the waning of light
And the ebbing of tide
They considered each swell
For the ultimate ride
CHORUS
Haul away all you Surfer Boys
Haul away in the gloom
For a dark wall is rising
To take you down to your doom
Haul away for your Mothers
Haul away for your Wives
Straight towards Leviathan
Haul away for your lives
In the east the Moon rose
All gibbous and gold
Like a mushroom emerging
From the deep and the cold
The horizon turned black
In a thickening line
And the fear struck them deep
As they bobbed in the brine
CHORUS
The boys aimed their boards
Towards the heart of the Beast
Towards the towering monster
That grew in the east
With their arms all afire
The last things they spied
Were the streets of Old Rockaway
Which were once again dry
CHORUS

Enough of a Miracle
05:20
|
|||
He's looking for signs and wonders
Why out of sight for so long?
A fiery hand that touches the sand
And a word that can never be wrong
Tell him a story of magic and glory
Of revenge and the parting of seas
But to survive your own birth
And then live on the earth
Is enough of a miracle for me
CHORUS
A sunny sky, a simple meal
A happy baby, just what is real
That's enough of a miracle for me
So don't come selling, 'cause I ain't buying
Save your breath, there's no sense in trying
Life is enough of a miracle for me
My child what I'm telling you
Is what my Grandpa believed to be true
I don't think they were intentional lies
And older people are supposed to be wise
So now we all can agree to agree
With the well-dressed man that we saw on TV
But this life is mine
I can choose who to be
And that's enough of a miracle for me
CHORUS
Now that you've paid us and we've saved your soul
Drop your story down a deep, dark hole
In a hundred years, or maybe a week
Some lucky folks might find the answers they seek
Just fill your story with demons and saints
Your revelations will knock them right on their taints
When they spread your gospel please leave me be
That's enough of a miracle for me
CHORUS

First Last Day
04:08
|
|||
On a beach
Where the seagulls clown and turn away
A foggy shore
When the sea goes down will it burn away
A bank of grey
Where the trumpets sound but cannot be heard
A orange sun
And the news is delivered by an ocean bird
O you can sing
And let the ocean be your song
Nothing to bring
‘Cause it’s been right here all along
You can talk
But your words don’t stand a chance today
Drifting’ down
They land in your footprints and get washed away
You can laugh
When there’s nothing left for you to do or say
Or you can cry
And let the ocean wash all your tears away
Or you can sing
And let the ocean be your song
Nothing to bring
‘Cause it’s been right here all along
You can laugh
When there’s nothing left to say
Or you can cry
And let your tears get washed away
